21st Birthday Decorations
08 July 2008
If you are after 21st birthday decorations then you simply NEED to visit Party Delights or Party Box!
They both offer a huge range of 21st birthday accessories, banners, confetti, balloons, candles, napkins, shimmer, straws (the list goes on!).
They both also offer personalised banners which was pretty cool, although Party Delights go the whole way and actually print the 6ft/10ft banners for you. This however comes at a cost but it definately look like they are worth it!
My better half just bought some decoartions from these shops which encouraged me to write about it in the blog. I was just amazed how cheap the 21st birthday decorations were!
If any of you purchase any decorations from either of these sites, make sure you send your party pics in for the site!
For 21st birthday decoartions these guys are simply the best.
Bake Me A Cake!
03 June 2008
Usually if a cake was required for a birthday or any other type of celebration for that matter I would pop down to Tesco and buy one of the small range of cakes they have in store. That whole idea changed when I came across a fantastic blog by a professional cake designer called Trudy.
The Bake Me A Cake Blog features many examples of her work and the picture to the right is one of my favourites. Trudy is based in Surrey in the South East of the UK and will design cakes for any type of celebratory event whether its birthday parties, weddings or Christmas. What's more she can even deliver the cake right to your door (locally) for a small extra charge ensuring it arrives in perfect condition and fresh as ever.
Please take a moment to visit the Bake Me A Cake website and have a look at some of her beautiful work.
Toffee Vodka, Skittles Vodka, ANYTHING Vodka!
03 June 2008
I was browsing through moneysavingexpert forums today when something absolutely brilliant grabbed my attention. It was a thread somebody had created about Toffee Vodka and how to make it, so I thought I would save this money saving and party making topic with you! It really is simple.
Toffe Vodka: Simply buy a cheap bottle of Vodka and pour a large pack of Werthers Originals in. You may need to drink some of the Vodka first to stop overflowing though.
The toffee's will take approximately 2-3 hours to fully dissolve but once this has happened you should store in the freezer until ready to consume. Vodka does not freeze and therefore the beverage will be ice cold when you are ready to drink it.
The beauty of this recipe is that it can be used with a wide range of other sweets to create your own unique flvaoured Vodka's. I am yet to try any of these but will make sure I do soon! Here are some others you can experiment with:
Skittles Vodka: Buy 2 bags of Skittles and take the green skittles out. Pour into your Vodka and leave to dissolve for a couple of hours.
Mars Vodka: As above but with Mars bars (use 1-5 depending on thickness required).
Pear Drops Vodka: As above with a pack of pair drops
Refreshers Vodka: As above with a pack or packs of Refreshers
Creme Egg Vodka: As above with a pack of Mini Creme Eggs or a couple of original Creme Eggs.
Anything You Want Vodka: As you can see, it appears that any type of sweets/chocolate can be used to make an array of different party Vodka. Have a go, try some of your favourite sweets and let me know what you came up with and the outcome! Happy drinking!
How To Make Vodka Jelly
21 May 2008
I was browsing around for more ideas on a forum, and somebody had suggested having a themed 21st birthday party with vodka jelly. I thought this was a great idea, and so I had a look for some recipes.
After studying some recipes across different websites I have devised the following:
Ingredients:
- 135g pack of Fruit Jelly
- 250ml Vodka (Any brand)
- 150ml Boiling Water
- 200ml Cold Water
Instructions:
- Pour 150ml of boiling water into a bowl.
- Break up the jelly and put in the bowl to dissolve.
- Add 200ml of cold water.
- Add the Vodka.
- Pour into any moulds and leave in the fridge to set overnight.
If you do not have a pack of jelly that is 135g or you would like to make more than this amount then just simply use 80% of the required amount as per the jelly instructions and make up the complete amount using 20% Vodka.
It is very important that you do not use too much, too little as the jelly just wont set properly. Good luck and be safe!
Simon Grant - Psychological Magician
28 April 2008
Simon Grant is a young psychological magician based in Kent and I have seen him perform on many occasions.
Many people may know him from Maidstone where he used to pop to the local bars in the evening and entertain hundreds of people.
His tricks and performances are absolutely mind boggling and I would highly recommend his presence at any 21st birthday party.
Feel free to check out his website and view some video clips of him in action.
Top 10 Fancy Dress Themes
25 April 2008
Below are the top 10 fancy dress theme ideas according to fancy-dress-ideas.com
Position 10 - The 'P' party*
This theme is great as it gives people scope to apply creativity, while condoning plagiaristic laziness. Say 'Arrgg matey' and say hello to join the plethora of Pirates, Prostitutes and Pikies. Thankfully you'll be in the semi-safe hands of the reasonably pissed up paramedics and police. * This idea is transferable to any letter of the alphabet - or why not try asking guests to come as something beginning with the first letter of their name!
Position 9 - Superheroes
Whether it was Superman or He-man, Catwoman or even Supergran, we all had our favourite superheroes as a child - well now's your chance to finally be just like them!! The standard lycra & pants element is bound to turn heads (although not always for the right reasons!!) or why not be a bit different and go as the hero's alter ego?
Position 8 - Tarts & Vicars
The classic fancy dress theme - your chance to be seen in public wearing your shortest skirt and highest heels - teemed with the obligatory fishnets and that's only the guys! For the more reserved amongst us the vicar costume is an easy alternative.
Position 7 - Charity shop night
Have fun and get some good karma whilst you do it! Set a price limit and your guests have to buy their whole outfit (shoes and accessories included) from your local charity shop. The results are always hilarious and no two outfits are ever the same - just keep an eye on the number of guys dressed as women - they love it!!!
Position 6 - Uniforms
Every girl loves a man in uniform!! And I'm sure the other way round is no exception!! From sailors and firemen to nurses and air hostesses this is a great theme for stag and hen nights and is bound to get you lots of attention. Just be careful not to lose the keys to those handcuffs!!
Position 5 - What you want to be when you grow up
Not only is this a great theme with loads of options but you also get to find out what your friends aspired to be when they were kids. There's always a few policemen and nurses - however you bound to see some slightly more unusually career goals like your lawyer friend who actually wanted to be a zoo keeper or your posh sister in law who secretly yearned to be a bin man!!
Position 4 - Films Stars
Always fancied yourself as a bit of a Hollywood Starlet? Think you'd make a good 007 or Lara Croft? Or do you see yourself as more of a Fred Flintstone? The options for this theme are endless and with more films arriving at your local multiplex each week there's no excuse not to come up with a great costume!
Position 3 - Cowboys and Indians
Another classic theme and so easy to do - throw together some denim and a checked shirt - and I bet you ladies have at least one pair of cowboy boots in the cupboard somewhere! Plus you get a chance to play fight with the obligatory toy weapons!
Position 2 - Heaven and Hell
Are you a dirty devil or an innocent angel - or why not combine the two and come as a naughty nun? Whatever you choose this is a great theme - even dressed as an angelic being I'm sure you'll get some cheeky devil's heart racing!
Position 1 - Goodies and Baddies
Whether you go for a famous duo like Austin Powers and Dr Evil or a classic coupling like cops and robbers this is a theme with loads of scope for imagination and a great idea for couples.
